Evaluating Sources of Information
Be sure to use reliable health information. One day it could be a matter of life and death.
By the end of Year 9, you need to be able to demonstrate the ability to use criteria to evaluate the quality, suitability and credibility of located sources of information.
For instance, consider the domain name (.com, .gov, .edu, .org, etc). Does it provide any clues to possible bias? Remember to think about where the most reliable sources of information might be – perhaps government agencies (.gov sites) like the Health Department?
When using information from the free internet use the criteria from the SHIFT test to ensure the information you find is accurate and reliable.
